The shock absorber’s function is to absorb or dissipate energy. One design consideration, when designing or choosing a shock absorber, is where that energy will go. In most dashpots, energy is converted to heat inside the viscous fluid. In hydraulic cylinders, the hydraulic fluid heats up, while in air cylinders, the hot air is usually exhausted to the atmosphere. In other types of dashpots, such as electromagnetic types, the dissipated energy can be stored and used later.

Brake pads are a vital component of every disc brake braking system used on most of today’s cars, commercial vehicles and other modes of transportation. The brake pad is made of a complex compound of materials, bonded to a steel backing plate, designed to stop your vehicle using friction. When you apply pressure to the brake pedal you squeeze the pads against the brake discs to slow your vehicle and ultimately bring it to a complete stop.

Brake rotors are the circular discs that are connected to each wheel (two in the front and two in the back). Rotors are designed to turn motion (kinetic energy) into thermal energy (heat). When you press down on the brake pedal, it sends a signal via the master brake cylinder to your calipers to squeeze your brake pads together against the rotors’ large surface area. This friction created by the pads pressing up against the rotors resists the spin of the wheel, which slows its rotation and halts the movement of the car.

Our pumps, manufactured with solid-state worry free electronics also eliminates vapor lock and flooding. Hytec pumps work well for fuel transfer and make a great stand-alone or booster pump.
